Very beautiful tea shop with delicious desserts paired with tea. The Hojicha cake and matcha latte were great. The place is upscale with traditional tea house charm.

Very good matcha experience with a delightful sweet treat to accompany. A nice place to take a moment away from the crowds with a real matchan well prepared and excellent service in a 300 year old building. The shop next door is great too.

This was actually the best matcha and teahouse experience I had in all of Japan. My sister and I ordered the sencha cold tea with their homemade Nara syrup and a cold matcha latte, and both were absolutely phenomenal. The sencha tea was refreshing with a bit of citrus flavor. The matcha was so smooth and perfectly balanced. I think I won’t be able to stop thinking about either of them. The cafe is more expensive than others but for quality items. The atmosphere is very peaceful and tranquil with traditional seating and next to the garden. I can’t express how much I enjoyed my time here.

Ordered most of the items on the menu. I think its one of the best matcha i have had in Japan. The sweets are a little too sweet but the matcha are incredible. Service wise the staffs are extremely friendly. Sent about $90 for four pax. Highly recommended

Best match i had in Japan! Authentic matcha and not just those pre maid mixes with sugar that apparently is a thing here :/ Also the place is so beautiful and gives you the true vibes of japan!

Nice little matcha spot located inside a luxury souvenir shop. I arrived around 1 PM on a weekday and had to wait about 20 minutes due to several people ahead of me in the queue. The interior feels authentic and is well-preserved, showcasing the charm of the old building, with a view overlooking the courtyard garden outside. The ambience is quiet and peaceful—you’ll naturally lower your voice when speaking. The staff are all attentive and happy to explain the menu and confectionery. I recommend the matcha affogato (though I didn’t get a proper photo of it), even though I’m not usually a fan of matcha, I’d love to have it again.

We went around 11am on a Wednesday, and there were only a few people there, so you could really appreciate the serenity of the place. I would highly recommend trying a matcha tasting set. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. We'll definitely be back!

Wow! Don't miss this hidden gem, where you can experience authentic tea room atmosphere in such a casual manner! Incredibly beautiful small space, which unfortunately completely be hidden from outside, as if they don't want to be known..maybe... It's run by Nakagawa Masashichi, 300 yrs long kogei house from Nara, and you can tell how authentic it is. I'm Japanese but living in the UK, and these real authentic experiences are getting fewer even in Japan. You'll be lucky if you can get in!!
